Developed by Dr. John Stommel at USDA-ARS and released in 2006. Won an AAS Award for its ornamental qualities. Glossy black/purple berries on dark purple foliage — one of the most visually dramatic peppers. The pods ripen from black to red. Edible but very hot (10,000–30,000 SHU). The anthocyanin pigmentation is the primary feature.
