Further InformationEdit Edit

Bred by Matt Simpson in the UK. A cross in the superhot C. chinense range, known for deeply wrinkled pods and extreme heat above 1.3 million SHU. The name comes from the spiral-like shape the pods sometimes take. A newer entrant in the ever-expanding superhot arms race.

How hot is the Death Spiral?

The Death Spiral measures 1,200,000–1,300,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making it a superhot pepper — roughly 160 times hotter than a jalapeño (which tops out around 8,000 SHU).
