A superhot C. chinense from the United States, 500,000 to 1,100,000 SHU. The pods hang down, 1 to 2 inches long, green going to red, habanero-shaped with wrinkled skin and thin walls. Plants reach 30 to 36 inches. Bred by David Cappiello (North Carolina, USA) — selected from 7 Pot. Also sold as 7 Pot Brain Strain, Brain Strain, Brainstrain and Seven Pot Brain Strain. Its Universal Pepper Number is C-R-WR-H-9-003.
Named for the deeply convoluted, brain-like texture of the pod surface. The original selection was red, and chocolate, yellow and other colours followed. It is one of the gnarliest-looking chinense around.
