Further InformationEdit Edit

Selected by David Capihorn in Trinidad from the broader 7 Pot family. Named for the deeply convoluted, brain-like texture of the pod surface — you can literally see why they call it 'Brain Strain.' The original selection was red, with chocolate, yellow, and other color variants following. Superhot, typically 1–1.35 million SHU. One of the gnarliest-looking chinense out there.

How hot is the 7 Pot Brainstrain?

The 7 Pot Brainstrain measures 500,000–1,100,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making it a superhot pepper — roughly 140 times hotter than a jalapeño (which tops out around 8,000 SHU).
