Further InformationEdit Edit

This C. annuum cultivar. Ripens to red, standard tapered pods. Heat sits around 5,000–30,000 SHU — solid heat — enough to make you pay attention. Not to be confused with Goat Pepper, the Bahamian C. chinense that runs 100,000–350,000 SHU. This is a much milder C. annuum. The bare name "Goat" is ambiguous in the trade and may be a shortening of Goat Horn or Goat's Weed.

How hot is the Goat?

The Goat measures 5,000–30,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making it a hot pepper — roughly 4 times hotter than a jalapeño (which tops out around 8,000 SHU).
