A C. chinense variety. Ripens to red, habanero-type pods. Packs 100,000–350,000 SHU (very hot, not for the faint of heart). Associated with Yucatán, Mexico. Habanero-type pepper with the characteristic lantern shape and fruity aroma of its species. Note: a similarly-named Scotch Bonnet Jamaican Red (see entry) is a separate cultivar with bonnet-shaped pods.
