Capsicum chacoense is a wild species of the Gran Chaco, the dry lowland shared by Bolivia, Paraguay and northern Argentina. Small white flowers, small upright pods, real heat. In crossing studies it sits between the baccatum and pubescens groups, and it carries disease resistance that breeders have moved into cultivated peppers.
