Capsicum eximium is a wild species of the Bolivian and northern Argentine Andes and a close relative of C. pubescens, the rocoto. Purple-marked flowers, small hot pods. It crosses with pubescens and with C. cardenasii, which is why breeders use it as a bridge into the rocoto group.
