Originates from Trinidad, where the name comes from the claim that one pod can spice seven pots of stew. The original red 7 Pot (sometimes called 7 Pot Jonah) is a chinense landrace with deeply pimpled skin. Trinidadian home cooks have used it for generations. Not a single cultivar but a family of related selections from the island. Also listed as 7 Pot Red. Long-podded selection.
