Parentage: Ancient domesticate. A C. pubescens type — the only domesticated pepper with black seeds, hairy leaves, and tolerance for cool temperatures. Regional synonym cluster: a yellow C. pubescens of the same group as the canonical Rocoto Canario (Peru), Manzano Amarillo (Mexico) and Locoto Amarillo (Bolivia); sometimes confused with the larger Rocoto Arequipa Amarillo.
