Yellow Rocoto
A C. pubescens variety. Ripens to yellow, apple/blunt bell pods, with matte/powdery. Rates 30,000–100,000 SHU, which means hot, with a lingering burn. Associated with Andes (Peru/Bolivia). Parentage: Ancient domesticate. Part of the Rocoto/Manzano/Locoto family, the cold-hardy Andean pepper with ancient roots. Regional synonym cluster: a yellow C. pubescens of the same group as the canonical Rocoto Canario (Peru), Manzano Amarillo (Mexico) and Locoto Amarillo (Bolivia); sometimes confused with the larger Rocoto Arequipa Amarillo.
