⚠ CONFLICTING SOURCES: Most authoritative sources (PepperInfo, Caribbean Garden Seed, USDA GRIN PI 159248) classify Aji Cochabamba as C. chinense. White Hot Peppers and Backyard Gardener list as C. baccatum. We use the majority C. chinense classification but the cultivar may have been propagated under both species labels. A C. chinense variety. Ripens to red, long/tapered pods. Rates 10,000–50,000 SHU, which means solid heat — enough to make you pay attention. Roots trace to South America. Part of the C. chinense family that includes habaneros, one of the most aromatic pepper groups. A hotter selection is sometimes listed as Aji Cochabamba Hot.
