Cascabel
Cascabel — "rattle" — is a small, round, ball-shaped dried chile of the Mirasol group, named for the seeds that rattle inside the dried maroon pod when shaken. It is less wrinkled than most dried chiles, with a glossy skin and a distinctive nutty, woodsy, faintly smoky flavour that deepens when the pod is toasted on a comal. Roughly 1,500–2,500 SHU. Also sold as chile bola ("ball chile").
