Further InformationEdit Edit

Goat Pepper is a C. praetermissum variety. Pods ripens to red. Rated extremely hot, ranging from 100,000 to 350,000 SHU. Also sold as Bahamian Goat. A C. chinense in habanero territory, not to be confused with the milder C. annuum listed as Goat. Some references misfile this variety under C. praetermissum; that species is the Brazilian Cumari, whose pods are only 3–4 mm across, so the attribution does not fit this pepper.

How hot is the Goat Pepper?

The Goat Pepper measures 100,000–350,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making it a very hot pepper — roughly 45 times hotter than a jalapeño (which tops out around 8,000 SHU).
